I am delighted that The Australian, a national newspaper in Australia, has published a commentary by me on the anti-Israel boycott of the Sydney Festival.
The article is behind a paywall so unfortunately I cannot post it here. However, the basic facts are in the public domain.
About 40 artists and productions have pulled out of the festival after it emerged the Israeli embassy had paid A$20,000 (£11,000) to facilitate a dance performance. The connection was that Ohad Naharin, a veteran Israeli dancer, choreographed the show for the Sydney Dance Company. The Australian Jewish News has covered the story in detail.
The BDS (Boycott, Disinvestment and Sanctions) action follows a pattern of cultural boycotts against Israel in many other parts of the world.
